Privacy policy

This is a placeholder privacy policy for UnitSync. Final wording is pending legal review and will be updated before general availability.

What we collect

When you or your society uses UnitSync, we collect:

  • Contact information — name, email address, and phone number provided during onboarding or via the contact form.
  • Society data — flat numbers, resident roster, visitor log entries, and staff attendance records.
  • Usage data — timestamps of actions taken in the platform (approvals, entries, notices).

We do not collect payment card data. Any payment flows go through regulated UPI infrastructure.

How we use it

We use the data we collect to:

  • Operate the UnitSync service for your society.
  • Send WhatsApp notifications related to your society's activity.
  • Respond to support and contact form enquiries.
  • Improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns.

We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Data retention

  • Visitor photos are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted (configurable per society).
  • Visitor log entries are retained for the duration of your society's subscription, then for 14 days after service suspension, after which they are permanently deleted.
  • Resident PII (name, phone number) is deleted within 30 days of a resident being removed from the roster.

Your rights under DPDPA

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request erasure of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Nominate a representative to exercise these rights on your behalf.

Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Access to personal data within UnitSync is role-based — residents can only see their own flat's data; managers see their society's data only.
